About the Fellows Program
The MSIP Fellows Program is designed to educate and engage early-career scientists, attorneys, and/or business professionals who have strong interests in the commercialization process of new therapeutics, diagnostics, medical devices or digital health technologies to the worldwide patient population. If successfully completed, the fellow will be prepared to leverage their expertise in science, business and law to help drive research discoveries to the marketplace. The two-phase scheme will train participants in the various aspects of technology commercialization.
Part I: Scholars Bootcamp
Participants will be engrossed in a holistic approach through the Scholars Bootcamp, discovering the fundamentals of technology transfer and entrepreneurship. Using a case study approach, participants will learn concepts including contract negotiation, targeted market research, development of technology assessments, prior art searches, examination of commercial potential, investment strategies, business modeling, and product development. The Bootcamp will run from September 4 to December 13, 2024.
Part II: Immersive Program
Following the Scholars Bootcamp, select participants will be invited to the Immersive Program, where participants will work directly with MSIP experts. Participants will be matched to one of six specially-designed tracks that will provide hands-on experience:
The “Immersive Program” will run from February 2 to May 1, 2025. Specific dates for each 1-hour weekly session will be announced by mid-January, each taking place at 12:00 pm (ET)

Eligibility
Candidates must have:
- A strong technical background in the biological sciences, physical sciences, or engineering
- Obtained, or in the process of obtaining, an advanced degree in science, business or law
- Demonstrated interest in the field of technology commercialization, intellectual property, licensing or entrepreneurship
- Strong communication, organizational and computer skills
- Availability of 6 – 10 hours per week for a minimum of 3 months (for select participants, another 3 – 4 months for the Immersive Program)
Successful applicants will also be required to complete a non-disclosure agreement, Mount Sinai Volunteer Services application and background check/health evaluation prior to joining the program.
